QUARTERS TO SEMESTERS 2012

Did You Know?

Fewer Hours = Less Courses

Under Semesters, you will have to take 1/3 less classes than you would under quarters. So if your program is 90 quarter hours, it will end up being only 60 semester hours.

Fewer Hours = Less Courses

You’ll be going to school one less week per year.

While each quarter is 11 weeks long including exam week, each semester is 16 weeks long including exam week.

Academic Years (divided by weeks per term)

You’ll spend the same amount of time in class.

Under quarters, the average student takes 15 credit hours per term. Under semesters, the average student will still take 15 credit hours per term.

Class numbers will change.

Under the Semester system, classes will be known by four numbers, not just three.
