Educational Support Services Available

The Tutorial Services program provides free educational assistance for any Sinclair student who is enrolled for credit (Room 6221 or call 512-2792).

Students are responsible for informing the instructor of any instructional accommodations and/or special learning needs at the beginning of the quarter.

Assistance is available to eligible students through
Disability Services

Withdrawing From College

If you decide to withdraw from all classes during a quarter, you must complete a Withdrawal Form and submit it to the Office of Registration Student Records.

You may withdraw during the first 8 weeks of the quarter and your permanent record will show grades of "W" for all courses attempted during that quarter (Summer Quarter deadline varies). Your failure to complete and submit a withdrawal form will result in a grade of "F".

You are encouraged to contact your Academic Counselor and/or Counseling and Student Development to seek assistance before withdrawing. Any exceptions to these policies should be directed to your Academic Counselor for advising.

You may completely withdraw from all classes by calling the Office of Registration Student Records, if you are unable to come in person to do so. Be sure to ask that a copy of the withdrawal form be mailed to you.

Late Registration Change of Schedule

Late registration is the first two days of the term.

During this period a student may register for or add any class with is open.
After that time a student will not be permitted to register for any class which has already met for the first time.

Audit - - You may register to audit a course during the first two days of the term only.
You may not change from audit to credit nor credit to audit status at any time in the registration process.
You will not receive credit for classes you audit, nor can you qualify for benefits for veterans for classes you audit.

Dropping a Course

You may drop a course during the first 10 days of a quarter and no notation will be made on your permanent record.
After that, a "W" withdrawal will appear on your record. Short-term classes and
Summer Quarter, which consists of multiple terms,
are excluded from this policy.

All deadlines are listed in the appropriate Quarterly Class Schedule. Drop forms are available at the Office of Registration Student Records, Building 10, second floor.

Note: It is not possible to drop a course after the 8th week of a quarter. Drop forms must be processed in person. If you drop a course and are employed as a student worker at Sinclair, you must also notify your supervisor.

Administrative Withdrawal

You are expected to be present at all classes sessions. If you must be absent, it is your responsibility to contact your instructor and complete all assignments you have missed. Excessive absences and work not completed may also affect your final grade, financial aid, and VA benefits.

You may be administratively withdrawn from a class by your instructor for non-attendance. He or she must advise you in writing at the first class meeting what attendance record would constitute cause for administrative withdrawal. If you do not attend the first class, it is your responsibility to obtain a copy of all materials distributed by your instructor at the meeting.

You may also be administratively withdrawn from classes as a result of a student conduct hearing with either a hearing officer or the student conduct committee.

Administrative withdrawals may be made when it has been determined that your presence on campus is potentially detrimental to the college, faculty, staff, students or yourself.

Student Behavioral Guidelines

Treat your classes as you would a desirable job. The instructor is a team leader and your fellow students are co-workers. All must work together to complete learning objectives. These behaviors are expected of you:

Academic Counseling

You are encouraged to meet with an Academic Counselors early in your studies at Sinclair. Academic counselors are available to assist you in understand your degree requirements, selecting courses, transferring to other institutions, etc.

In addition, prior to taking any action which will impact your schedule, (e.g. dropping or adding a class) it is strongly recommended that you see your academic counselor.
