Project - Current Newspapers/Magazines Critique

PURPOSE

To identify the range of news related to the course in current
newspaper and magazine articles and to review and analyze the articles.

METHOD

Select 7 articles appearing in newspapers and/or magazines.
The articles must be current and appear in print after the beginning of this quarter.

Write a critique of each article containing information as to what the article is about AND an analysis of your ideas about the position presented in the article.
For example

Why is this topic newsworthy?
What issues in our culture are reflected and discussed in the article?
Analyze and relate the article content with respect to course content
Does it reflect particular attitudes about the course content?
Which theory explained in the text or chapter reference
shows how the article relates to our study?

Each article will bring other ideas to your mind.
Write about them in your review and analysis of the article.

FORMAT/LENGTH

Each of your 7 reviews must be at least 300 words in length, typed and double spaced.

Include in your Project pages the printed article or a copy of it, noting on it the source, title, author (if any), and date the article was published.

Select a textbook chapter that relates to the article and reference it,
underlining the chapter title.

Use a cover page that includes the
- project name,
- your name,
- date, and the
- course name, number and section number (PSY 135.TC).
Staple all pages of your Project together.

Do not use a binder or folder as it cannot be returned.
