Learning Objectives for Chapters 1 - 6

Chapter 1
Sources of Business Law and the Global Legal Environment 
1. Explain the various sources of American law.
2. Describe the Doctrine of Stare Decisis.
3. Distinguish between civil law and criminal law.
4. Identify the Uniform Commercial Code.
5. Distinguish between the regulatory power of the federal
    government and the state government.

Chapter 2
Courts and Procedures 
1. List and compare different types of court jurisdiction.
2. Explain the structure of the federal and state court systems.
3. Describe the various stages of a law suit.
4. Identify the role of the judge and jury in a law suit.

Chapter 4
Ethics and Social Responsibility 
1. Describe an instance of ethical decision making in a
    business environment relating to shareholders and 
    to employees.

Torts 
1. Define and describe the requirements of torts.

against persons and property.
