Course Description
This interdisciplinary course (can be taken for either
Fine Arts
or Management credit) tracks the historic evolution of the seemingly
unnatural partnership between business and art. The course will
concentrate specifically on the creation, marketing and acquisition of
art through the ages with emphasis on current day trends.

About This Course
From the Fine Arts perspective the course will provide
you with the
understanding of the historical and practical implications of living and
existing in a capitalist society regardless of your chosen profession. The
course functions as a Fine Arts elective. From the Management perspective,
the course will help develop the essential business elements of product idea
generation, development, mass production, marketing, pricing (including negotiation),
sales and service. The development of "art" will present you with a unique
perspective
not often considered in the traditional business school. The course also
functions as a
Business Technologies elective.
The Business of Art (ART 263/MAN 263) is a distance learning course
taught entirely over the Internet.
It is offered by Sinclair Community College's,
Departments of Fine Arts and Business Management
By successfully completing this course,
you can earn three quarter hour college credits.
