This certificate will help prepare students and working professionals to perform effectively in the Information Assurance area of Information Technology. The courses required for this certificate have been reviewed and validated by the NSA/DHS. Students completing the courses outlined here will receive the ISSC Certificate jointly issued by Sinclair Community College and NSA/DHS. Because the specified content in these six courses has been approved, course credit earned by articulated or proficiency cannot be accepted.
With the increased awareness of the need for computer and network security in government, industry and education, there are greatly increased opportunities for students prepared to work in Information Assurance. Students and working professionals completing this certificate will have significantly enhanced opportunities to pursue jobs in the Information Assurance arena within the Federal government, Department of Defense and/or private industry.
This certificate is embedded in the NEMA.S.AAS degree which is the subject of an articulation agreement with the University of Cincinnati. The courses in this certificate are included in that agreement.
Two courses in this certificate (CIS 130 and CIS 2640) help prepare students for the CompTIA Net+ and Security+ certifications. CIS 2510 also helps students prepare for a Microsoft certification.
