Special and Annually Contracted Faculty

The Faculty Ratio Task Force continues to address staffing ratios among Special Adjuncts, Annually Contracted Faculty, and Tenure-track Faculty. The goal is to maintain a 60/40 ratio of full-time/part-time faculty and to eliminate the special adjunct position by Fall 2005. In addition, the VPI, the President and Vice President of Faculty Senate continue to address issues raised by the Annually Contracted Faculty.

Ongoing

During Spring 2003, the President, Vice President for Instruction, and President and Vice President of Faculty Senate met with Annually Contracted Faculty to outline a recommended plan of action. The plan of action is to respond to expressed issues and concerns of Annually Contracted Faculty.  The plan was agreed upon at this meeting, and the VPI and President and Vice President of Faculty Senate will begin implementation during Fall 2003.

The revised Faculty Workload Policy was recommended to and approved by the Board of Trustees on June 10, 2003.

Ongoing

The initial implementation of the revised Faculty Workload Policy began in Fall 2003 with continued monitoring by the FITS Team. The new policy will be fully implemented by Fall 2005. The results from the first year indicate successful implementation of policy.

College will continue to examine parity of salaries for full-time, tenure track faculty and the progression of full professors to the maximum salary range.

Merit Process

A small task force will examine current Collegewide Merit process and make appropriate recommendations to streamline and improve division and collegewide merit. The task force will address decentralization of collegewide merit and appropriate allocations of merit awards for each academic division.

Comprehensive Evaluation of Faculty

·          Evaluation instruments

·          Evaluation process (timing and action)
