SENATE QUESTIONS
I) What is the structure of faculty governance at your institution? How do you interact within faculty governance? Please provide an example of both a positive and a negative experience that you have involving this process.
II) In your opinion, what role should faculty governance play in a community college?
III) Given the tight fiscal realities currently associated with the budgets in most states as related to higher education, juxtaposed with most faculty’s desires for increased levels of full time faculty, what creative ways might be cultivated to address the need for additional full time faculty staffing?
IV) What do you perceive as the most critical issues besides the current budgetary dilemmas? Please categorize these in the short term (3-5 years), long term (5-10 years) and in the more distant future for community colleges? How might these be effectively addressed?
V) It is widely perceived that the compensation packages (including salaries and benefits) for educators are substantially lower than those associated with their counterparts in the industrial sector. Do you believe that notion to be accurate, and if so, what would you suggest be done in response to it?
VI) What is your experience with Distance Learning, and what future role do you envision for Distance Learning within the Community College structure?
