Creation and implementation of an African Union peacekeeping forceWestern Sahara believes in the necessity of establishing and implementing an African Union Peace Keeping Force. With the current destabilizing conflicts ravaging our continent, it is imperative that the African nations find common ground in terms of ethnic rivalries and religion and promote the creation and implementation of a peace keeping force that intends on creating a more peaceful and harmonious continent that will enable us to move towards continental sovereignty. Europe and the United States have used our constant border tensions and ethnic fighting to keep us subjugated and have limited us in terms of political and economic progress. In order to create a more unified front that champions the rights of all Africans, we must begin with the fundamental underpinnings of a peaceful continent and that can only be achieved by an independent and non-partisan peace keeping force that will promote regional peace and tranquility. There are a number of ongoing conflicts that have drawn the African continent into instability and extremism. A unified and independent peace force made up our fellow Africans would help promote numerous peace processes and quell the growing tide of religious fanaticism.
Strengthening African economies through good governanceWestern Sahara wishes to extend its commitment to strengthening African Economies through better governance. Only when corruption ceases and an end to dictatorial economics come upon us can we hope for a stronger and more powerful continental economy making each African nation stronger and more reliant upon itself. Government is the cornerstone of the state’s economy and Western Sahara agrees that it is a necessity that the African Union pursues a more united front against those individuals who reap the benefits of fiscal mismanagement and the siphoning of essential foreign aid in effect keeping their people starving. Africa is a continent that lacks resources and when those in government promote corruption, not only do the people of their respected states suffer, but the African continent as a whole.
The impact of poverty on environmental sustainabilityWestern Sahara is extremely distressed by the continual mass poverty that has enveloped Africa and the adverse consequences that have come as a result. Widespread environmental damage has plagued this great continent with overpopulation and insufficient understanding of the fragility of the earth and its resources. Africa lacks necessary resources such as water and Western Sahara calls on other member states to look at the inadmissible connection between poverty and environmental sustainability to help Africa grow economically and bring it into the fold of the international community in regard to environmental protection. We all must learn balance to sustain our growth.
