Dear Delegates, Welcome to DAYMUNC XI and the Simulation Security Council. My name is Mike Wiehe and I have the privilege of acting as the director of this Committee. This is my second time directing this particular committee and my fifth year of involvement with the Conference. I currently work on Capitol Hill and have worked in the public sector since obtaining a BA in political science several years ago. My goal in this committee is to test your adaptability and flexibility by challenging you with a constantly changing situation that is based upon timely events and plausibility. As members of the Security Council, it is up to you to express your nation’s policy in regards to the situation brought to your attention. How this will work is at the beginning of the conference I will provide a scenario to the Security Council for deliberation. For all intents and purposes, it is a real-time event. I will, however, provide you with some extremely vague information right now so you are able to research your nation’s policy. I recommend that you remain up to date on current events in the world, with particular attention to the geographic area bordered by the Mediterranean Sea, Persian Gulf, Indian Ocean and Russia. In looking at this area, please examine your nation’s policy in regards to the countries located there and the current state of affairs. Keep in mind that the situation you face will be based in real time and will be adapting continuously. I look forward to working with everyone in Committee. If you have any questions prior to the start of the conference, please feel free to contact me via email at mike_wiehe@yahoo.com. I will respond to questions, but I will not provide any additional information in regards to the situation facing the Security Council. As it is a simulation in real time, it is impossible for me to know the state of events in the world in February. Good Luck! Mike Wiehe, Director (mike_wiehe@yahoo.com) Chair: Shane Regoli Rapporteur: Jeff Kempton
