Association of Information Technology Professionals

AITP History

The AITP name for this organization was voted in by members in 1996 to represent the evolving nature of the IT field & the diverse skills of IT professionals. This organization was initially named National Machine Accountants Association (NMAA) in 1951and represented these early IT professionals. The use of computers for processing data was increasing and in 1962 the members of NMAA voted to change their name to Data Processing Management Association (DPMA). In 1996 we became the Association of Information Technology Professionals (AITP).
