For Students Who Live More Than 60 Miles from Sinclair's Dayton Campus
Play the video or follow the instructions below to learn how to take a proctored placement test.
Step 1: If you have Advanced Placement credit or transcripts from a college or university you previously attended, please contact a SinclairOnline academic coach by calling 937-512-2990 or by email at online@sinclair.edu to see if you need to take a placement test.
Step 2: Locate a proctor (an exam supervisor) with an Internet-capable computer to administer your test. You can find proctors at your local library, college or university, elementary or secondary school, hospital education office or at your military base's testing center. Remember that a proctor cannot be: a current Sinclair student; a relative or friend of your family; your supervisor or your employee; or your coworker. Your proctor cannot live at the same address as you, and his/her position in relation to you and to Sinclair cannot present any conflicts of interest. See the Proctor Information and Procedures page for more information.
Step 3: Complete all parts of the Proctor Agreement Form. It will take one or two business days for your request to be processed. Plan in advance! You will be notified by email when your proctor request is approved or denied.
Step 4: When you've received your instructions in an email, you can arrange a test time with your proctor.
Step 5: Take a practice placement test. See the Resources section below for links to practice tests and websites with review matetrials.
Step 6: Take the placement test with your proctor. You can review and print your results immediately, but it may take 24 hours for your results to be loaded into Sinclair's system.
Step 7: After 24 hours, you can contact your academic coach at 937-512-2990 to prepare to register for classes.
Step 8: Before registering for SinclairOnline classes, you must complete the free How to Succeed in an Online Course session that walks you through the steps involved in taking an online course.
