If you have questions about a particular class and its testing requirements and/or deadlines, please contact the class instructor immediately. Your instructor’s contact information can be found in your course syllabus.
Testing Information
SinclairOnline works to provide alternative assessment—allowing students to complete their courses utilizing online testing, papers, reports, and/or course participation in lieu of traditional in-person testing methods.
However, some courses require supervised, paper-pencil or computer-based testing given either on campus or by a test proctor.
Determining the type of testing used in a SinclairOnline course prior to registration is a very important factor in the planning process. Test methods vary depending on the actual course(s) and section(s) for which you register, as well as your place of residence.
A list of courses that require test proctoring for upcoming academic terms can be seen and/or downloaded at the bottom of this page.
Proctored/Supervised Testing Information
Proctored, or supervised, testing can be completed at the Sinclair Testing Center, located at the college’s Dayton campus; an area learning center (Courseview in Mason, Englewood, Huber Heights or Preble County centers) by appointment; or, if you are a non-local learner, using a local, college-approved proctor in your area. For courses requiring test proctoring, where you live is a determining factor in whether you will be required to test at a Sinclair campus location or if you can find a local proctor for your testing needs.
Local Learners
Students living within a 60-mile radius of the Dayton campus
If you live within 60 miles of the Dayton campus and are enrolled in a course that requires proctored testing, you are required to take your test at the Testing Center or other Sinclair location providing testing services.
Please review your course syllabus for testing location, time and deadlines. You can also visit the Sinclair Testing Center website for their policies, as well as other testing locations and hours of operation.
Non-Local Learners
Students living beyond a 60-mile radius of the Dayton campus
If you live beyond 60 miles of the Dayton campus and are enrolled in a class that requires proctored testing, you have the option to obtain a test proctor (exam supervisor) to oversee your testing in lieu of on-campus testing. It is your responsibility to secure your own proctor to administer the tests.
Please review your course syllabus to determine the deadlines for your tests. If you have never used a test proctor before, take a moment to learn more about finding a proctor »
It is the student’s responsibility to make the appropriate arrangements for completing all necessary testing, as required for each course, prior to the term’s start date. In addition, students should be sure to review each course syllabus for any updates to the test schedule or requirements on the first day of the term.
