Stay Healthy: Know the Facts About H1N1

As we enter into the flu season, Sinclair Community College would like to keep you informed of current updates on the H1N1 virus (Swine Flu). Sinclair Community College has taken this community concern very seriously, establishing an internal task force comprised of Administrators, Public Safety and Healthcare Professionals. We are routinely monitoring the community through local and state health officials.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (www.cdc.gov) is the best source of information on the H1N1 virus. But as a reminder, here are flu prevention tips from the CDC:

• Cover your nose and mouth with a tissue when you cough or sneeze.
Throw the tissue in the trash after you use it.
• Wash your hands often with soap and water, especially after your cough or sneeze.
Alcohol-based hand cleaners are also effective.
• Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth. Germs spread that way.
• Stay home if you get sick. The Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends that you stay home from work or school and limit contact with others to keep from infecting them.
