Sinclair’s Workforce Development Division, in partnership with the Dayton Tooling and Manufacturing Association (DTMA), was awarded $85,064 from the Ohio Skills Bank Workforce Innovation Solutions Program for Advanced Manufacturing Specialists (AMS) Certificate training.

The AMS Certificate is an advanced level, critical thinking program designed to elevate good technicians into top performers. The target audience includes technicians employed in a variety of positions including machinists, CNC programmers, tool and die makers, quality technicians, and machine and tool setters.

Nineteen individuals are currently enrolled in the first AMS class which began meeting at the AIM - Advanced Integrated Manufacturing - Center on March 4. The class is being led by Workforce Development’s own Donna Hoying, Manager of Advanced Engineering & Manufacturing Solutions. Companies represented include Dupps, Custom Manufacturing Solutions Inc., Norgren, Dysinger Inc., Millat Industries, Gem City Engineering & Manufacturing, and the French Oil Mill Machinery Company.

DTMA represents 240 companies and over 7,000 workers, one of the largest tooling and machining clusters in the nation. It facilitates the engagement and recruitment of its association members in the training. Workforce Development serves as the fiscal agent and provides project management, recruiting, curriculum development, and training.
