Women’s Basketball Wins Against Lorain

Sinclair opened OCCAC play with a victory over host Lorain County 81-53. 

Both teams started off slow to start the game with Lorain taking the early 14-9 lead at the 10:00 mark. Sinclair started to warm up and tied the game 19-19 at the 6:00 mark then went on a 18-5 run to end the half and hold the 37-24 advantage at halftime.

The Tartan Pride extended their lead early in the 2nd half with a 18-9 run to start the half and held a 67-41 lead at 10:00 mark and never looked back and earned the 81-53 victory.

Leading the way for Sinclair were Chelcie Gullett (So/Xenia) with 17 points and 9 rebounds, Jessica Pierre (So/Tippecanoe) with 16 points, and Shannon Campbell (Fr/Miamisburg) with 14 points.

Also contributing were Jessica Plummer (Fr/Tippecanoe) with 9 points and 5 assists, Emily Frey (Fr/Versailles) with 9 points and 6 rebounds, Shelby Pettit (Fr/Brookville) with 7 points, Jessica Myers (So/Springfield South) with 4 points, Jana Gross (So/Bellbrook) with 3 points and 7 assists, and Rachel Brun (Fr/Chaminade Julienne) with 2 points.

Sinclair Women currently stand 11-2 (1-0) on the season. They will travel to Lakeland on Saturday, January 9th for their next OCCAC contest.
