Cleveland, OH – Sinclair Men's Basketball team went on the road for the 16th time this year for a Saturday OCCAC match up at Cuyahoga CC.
Sinclair started out hot going 7-10 to start the game and playing well on the defensive end holding the home team to 30 points and taking a 3 point lead into half. The Pride made a little run to start the second half pushing the lead out to as many as 9 before Sinclair went ice cold. Sinclair got strong play from two sophomore guards, Derek Ober hit on 7-18 from the field and 3-6 from the 3point line racking up 22 points and 15 rebounds and backcourt mate Kevin Vest went 8-17 from the field and 4-7 from the 3point line also racking up 20 points and 7 rebounds with 5 assist. The two starting guards combined 42 of the 60 Sinclair points and shot 15-35 (42.9%) from the field and 7-13 (53.8%) from the 3point line.
The Pride did not have its usual 9 or 10 players in the scoring column, just 6 players scored and on 2 in double figures. After starting the game 7-10, Sinclair only managed 14-57 (24.6%) from the field. The real telling tail other than Ober and Vest going 15-35 (42.9%) from the field, the rest of the team went 6-32 (18.8%) for a total of 18 points.
Even with all the poor shooting, Sinclair played hard on defense and kept the game close down the stretch. The Pride had the ball down 3 (60-63) with :44 seconds left in the game but a costly turnover sealed the game for Cuyahoga as they knocked down both free throws after a Sinclair foul.
The Pride will finally return home for the final 6 games of the regular season Wednesday for an OCCAC match up against I-75 rival Cincinnati State CC.
