Tartan Pride Splits with Lakeland

Tartans Split Final Conference Series of the Year with Lakeland

Austin Pressly

Austin Pressly picked up another CG win in Game 2.

After dropping two one run games in Cleveland on Saturday, the Pride came back home to Grady's field for two must win games.
Jeremiah Kerns started in the first game and got into trouble early with a two out walk.

Four hits later, Lakeland jumped to a 3-0 lead. That lead wouldn't last long though as shortstop Brandon Napier launched his 5th homerun of the season, of the three run variety, to tie the game at three. The Sinclair offense added four more runs in the 2nd on a two run bomb from Chayse Hood and a two out double from Kyle Vander Ark that scored two. The 7-3 lead would stand until the bottom of the 5th when the Pride took advantage of five walks from Laker pitching and plated six, highlighted by a Marcus Heath double in the gap.

Final Score: Sinclair 13 Lakeland 3
WP: Jeremiah Kerns (6-1) 5 IP 5H 3ER 5 K's
Offensive Leaders: Kyle Vander Ark 1-1 2RS 2 BB's 2B 3 RBI's, Brandon Napier 2-2 3RS BB HR (5) 3 RBI's, Chayse Hood 2-2 RS HR (2) 3 RBI's.

The Pride's hottest pitcher as of late, Austin Pressly took the mound in game two. Pressly threw a complete game shutout earlier in the week against Owens and was undefeated in conference play heading into Sunday. The Laker offense started off strong again scoring two runs in the first after yet another two out walk. In almost a repeat of the previous game, the Pride answered with another Brandon Napier three run jack to take a 3-2 lead. In the bottom of the second, Joe Ford knocked in two more runs for the Pride on a line drive up the middle. That 5-2 lead would hold for the rest of the game as Austin Pressly did not allow another hit.

Final Score: Sinclair 5 Lakeland 2
WP: Austin Pressly (6-1) 7 IP 3H 1ER 2 K's
Offensive Leaders: Joe Ford 3-3 2 RBI's, Brandon Napier 1-2 RS Sac Bunt HR (6) 3 RBI's.

The Pride are currently 31-14 and will be at home tomorrow against Heidelberg JV in a DH.
