Dayton, OH- The African American Studies program at Sinclair Community College and ABLE Youth Leaders will sponsor the annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Community Service Workshop and Forum on Thursday, January 15. This event is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served.

The community service workshop and forum will be held from 11:15 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the Student Leadership Center on the lower level of Building 8 on the Sinclair campus.

The workshop and forum will begin with a presentation by Julie Arias of the American Friends Service Committee and Teresa Troyer of the Dayton Public Schools. They will speak on "Human Rights: Access to Education through ESL" (English as a Second Language).

Sinclair ABLE Youth Leaders Stephanie Motley, Bakari Lumumba and Angela Allen will follow with a presentation on community service opportunities. They will feature Law, Economics, and Social Activist Youth Workshops (L.E.S.A.) and the African World Film Festival, which raises scholarship funds for at-risk-college students. These student leaders will share how community service with ABLE has impacted their lives and the community.
