Dayton, OH – (#22) Sinclair Men's Basketball team drove down I-75 to Cincinnati State CC for an important Ohio Community College Athletic Conference match up Wednesday night. Taking a 3 point lead into halftime, the Tartan Pride continued its full court defensive pressure through out the second half to take a 76-69 win. Cincinnati State rallied early in the second half, capitalizing on turnovers and offensive rebounding. The Surge quickly erased a 3 point halftime deficit to 4 point lead within minutes. Sinclair finally took a two possession lead (4 points) with about 1:30 left in the game and made four straight free throws to seal the game.
Leading the way for Sinclair was Sophomore British Alexander (6-6/Trotwood Madison H.S.) with 15 points. Sophomore Jason Clardy (6-7/Warren Central H.S. – Indianapolis, IN) had another strong performance with 14 points. Contributing off the bench was a pair of sophomores, Maurice Mendoza (6-8/Bershear H.S. – Pittsburgh, PA) with 12 points and Derek Ober (6-3/Jefferson H.S.) with 11 points.
Sinclair now stands at 17-4 overall, 4-3 in the conference and #22 in the latest NJCAA National Poll.
The Pride will host Lorain Co. CC on Saturday at 4pm for Sinclair's Coaches vs. Cancer Game.
