Sinclair is pleased to offer a new series of workshops for Displaced Workers this fall. Part of the Wal-Mart Brighter Futures project, the series will focus on basic computer skills, peer support and job hunting. Upcoming workshops include:

Computer Skills:

• Microsoft Word 2007
  Friday, October 8; 10:00 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.
  Building 11, Room 11323
  This interactive workshop will allow you to engage in three critical sections of the career development process: searching and applying for positions online, resume development, and mock interviewing with a local employer. Lunch will be provided. Space is limited to 20 participants. 
• Microsoft Excel 2007
  Friday, October 22; 10:00 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.
  Building 11, Room 11323
  Learn the basics of Excel 2007, including: creating, modifying, and formatting a work sheet and performing calculations. Space is limited to 20 participants. 
• Microsoft PowerPoint 2007
  Friday, November 5; 10:00 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.
  Building 11, Room 11323
  Learn the basics of PowerPoint 2007, including: creating presentations, formatting text, and adding and modifying graphics. Space is limited to 20 participants.
• Microsoft Review
  Friday, November 19; 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.

  Review the basics of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel in this workshop. Space is limited to 20 participants.

  Greg Pfander with McGohan Brabender will present individual coverage options from providers. Cobra and Conversion plans will also be a part of the discussion. 
• New Student Orientation for Displaced Workers

  Meet with staff and other students to learn how to make the pieces fit at Sinclair Community College.

• Resume Writing

  Not really sure what goes in a resume? Or do you know what goes in but you don’t know how to format it? Come to this workshop, hosted by Career Services to learn how to market your skills and qualifications for any job! You will learn how to promote past career accomplishments and skills in a uniform resume and cover letter that will be eye catching for an employer.
• Get Plugged In: Finding & Applying for Jobs Online
  Friday, October 15; 10:00 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.
  Building 11, Room 11323
  Learn how to research and apply for jobs online. Explore the ins and outs of online resumes, job search engines, and turning the impersonal online application process into a networking opportunity. Space is limited to 20 participants.
