Sinclair Community College Projected to Graduate Its Largest Class Ever on Friday


DAYTON, OH – Sinclair Community College is projected to graduate the largest class in the College’s history at the commencement ceremony this Friday at 7 p.m. at the University of Dayton Arena. Over 4,000 degrees and certificates will be awarded this academic year. The commencement keynote speaker will be Senator Rob Portman, who will be introduced by State Senator Peggy Lehner.

"These graduates will walk out of this ceremony with the education they need to be competitive in this ever-changing economy," Sinclair Community College President Steve Johnson said. "While education is and will continue to be a life-long process, these students should feel great pride in everything they have achieved to bring them to this ceremony."

Sinclair Community College is increasingly emerging as a leader in training and retraining the workforce of tomorrow’s economy. Since 2009, ov er 4,600 displaced workers have taken classes on one of Sinclair’s campuses and nearly 1,200 will graduate within the next six months. 88 displaced workers will graduate from Sinclair on Friday.

Other stories of interest include:

· Six high school students will be receiving their high school diplomas and an associate degree within weeks of each other.

· A mother and daughter who are both graduating.

· A wife, husband, and sister-in-law all graduating together.

· And a student who will be completing her eighth credential from Sinclair, including three degrees, one certificate program, and three short-term certificates.

"Commencement is a true day of achievement for these students and for the entire Sinclair community," President Johnson said. "Our economy depends on a well-trained workforce and these Sinclair graduates are now ready to do their part."
