Day of Remembrance Planned

9/11 Anniversary Day of Remembrance

Sinclair Community College will offer a Day of Remembrance event observing the tenth anniversary of 9/11 on Sunday, September 11 from 1–4 p.m., beginning outside Building 4 on Sinclair's downtown Dayton campus.

Events include: A brief welcome ceremony with remarks by President Steven Johnson; the Dayton Fire Department Honor Guard; and a commemorative tolling of Sinclair's bell tower in memory of the 2819 victims and heroes lost on September 11. A bagpipe processional to Blair Hall Theatre will lead to a viewing of the 343 First Responders art installation by Stella Gasvoda. Dr. Helen Grove will provide opening remarks in Blair Hall, followed by a presentation including music by Sinclair's Gospel Choir and Men's Ensemble, a dance performance by Rodney Veal and a reading from The Guys by Anne Nelson. A special panel of Ohio Task Force One members will recount the experience of being some of the first responders to New York City following the attacks. For more information, call 512-2542.
