Sinclair Hosts Regional Machining Competition

DAYTON, OHIO (03/31/2011) – Sinclair Community College will host the SkillsUSA State Precision Machining Competition on Saturday, April 9, 2011.

The top manual machining high school students will compete in this state competition. The competition focuses on manual machining on the milling machine, lathe and general machine shop knowledge, as well as precision manual machining.

Sinclair has hosted the regional competition for the past 12 years, but this is the first year that the Computer Aided Manufac turing (CAM) department has been asked to host the state competition.

"When it comes to machine shop fundamentals and facility, Sinclair Community College is first to be thought of. We have the best program in the state and the largest shop with enough equipment and machines to host any event," Kevin McNeeley, a computer aided manufacturing professor at Sinclair, said.

The competition will be held in Building 10 Room 10-001 from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

The event is free and open to the public, but there is only space for 60 people. No registration is required.
