Pride Takes Owens 79-69

Dayton, OH –  Sinclair Men’s Tartan Pride basketball team, coming off a hectic week of school closures and ice, returned to the court as they hosted Ohio Community College Athletic Conference opponent Owens College.

The Tartan Pride would build a double digit halftime lead at 34-23. The two teams combined for a cool 26% from the three point line.

In the second half, The Pride hit key free throws at the end and held off Owens to secure a 79-69 win. Trent Maddox would go 6 for 6 from the free throw line to keep the lead as The Pride went 13 for 15 in the second half from the line for the win.

Freshmen Darrien Wilkins (6-6/Cincinnati Princeton H.S.) and Mark Allen (6-4/Cincinnati Northwest H.S.) led Sinclair with 16 points each.  Wilkins also added 13 rebounds for his tenth double-double.

The Tartan Pride move to 17-6 overall and improve their OCCAC record to 4-3 and currently 4th in the conference. Sinclair will return to home action on Saturday, February 12 as they take on Columbus State in Sinclair’s Annual Pink Game for Breast Cancer Awareness.
