Sinclair to Present Dayton Premiere of Broadway Bound Musical "Be More Chill"

The smash hit, musical comedy Be More Chill closes its sold-out Off-Broadway run on Sept. 30 and opens Sinclair Theatre’s season October 5-13 in Blair Hall, Building 2 on the downtown Dayton campus! Then, the off-Broadway production heads to a recently-announced Broadway opening in February 2019!

Based on the book by Ned Vizzini, Be More Chill is about students surviving high school by transforming from “loser” to “chill” via a pill-sized super computer. It’s been called “the show saved by social media” after students made it a YouTube sensation. With music and lyrics by Joe Iconis and book by Joe Tracz, Sinclair’s show will be directed by Chris Harmon.

Students love the music and identify with the songs: “Michael in the Bathroom”, “I Love Play Rehearsal”, “Two-Player Game” and others. The New York Post calls it “Quirky, funny, and dead-on…Imagine Holden Caulfield with internet access.”

Cast includes: Anthony Dell’Aria, Katelyn Pennington, Micah Koverman, Jared Setser, Joseph Herzog, DeShawn Christian, Rachel Charles, Brianna Babel, Nikki Bentz, Christopher Goetz with an ensemble of: Valkyrie Williams, Caitlyn Hood, Lydia Dye, Cormari Pullings, Christopher Leavitt, Austin Vega, Tanner Titkemeyer, and Elisha Chamberlin.

Tickets cost $18 for adults/$15 for students and seniors. Performances are at 8 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays, one 2 PM Sunday performance (Oct. 7) and a Throwback Thursday (Oct. 11) where all tickets cost only $10. All seats are reserved and available online NOW at: www.sinclair.edu/tickets.

Due to content and language, this comedy is best enjoyed by patrons 14 and older.

Thursday, Sunday and first Saturday theatre performances are ASL interpreted by student interpreters Catherine Johnson, Macy Reitz, Cecelia Shannon and Destinie Warren.
