BIOSCIENCE MANUFACTURING TECHNOLOGY GRANT FUNDED TRAINING
Scholarship Assistance: Sinclair is prepared to offset 100% of the cost of this training through the below mentioned funding source for qualifying individuals. We are currently taking applications for the class beginning July 9, 2012. For more information, please contact Brenda Latanza at brenda.latanza@sinclair.edu or (513) 339-1212 ext. 6.
More than one hundred students will be trained over the next three years in a new short term training program designed to upgrade the skills of displaced or underemployed workers. In addition, we will train incumbent workers, building upon existing skills enabling them to have the opportunity to move into higher level jobs with their employer.
This bioscience short-term training program is being offered jointly by Sinclair Workforce Development and the Cincinnati State Workforce Development Center. As beneficiaries of a U.S. Department of Labor and the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act grant with BioOhio as lead, our two schools are collaborating on an extensive program in bioscience careers, and have worked closely with regional pharmaceutical and medical device companies to develop a relevant curriculum.
The seven week bioscience curriculum focuses on positions such as development operators, manufacturing technicians, CNC operators, quality technicians, and laboratory and research assistants. The program's advisory companies indicate that these are positions in which they face critical shortages. The classes are currently being offered at the new Sinclair/Cincinnati State Bioscience Manufacturing Technology Lab located at Cincinnati State's Workforce Development Center in Evandale.
