Why Composite Technician Training?
Ohio is the nation’s leader in composite materials manufacturing. Thousands of new jobs are expected to be created in the coming decade to respond to a growing need. Montgomery County Department of Jobs and Family Services, National Composite Center and Sinclair Community College are collaborating to offer new Composites Technician Training.
The 8-week program is designed to be highly practical with a greater emphasis on shop floor training as opposed to class room instruction. In fact, for Level 2 of the training, workers will receive over half of their on-the-job training at a Dayton Region composite manufacturer.
The training is broken out into two phases:
Level I training will be offered April 5-April 23, 2010
Level II will be offered May 3–June 4, 2010
To qualify for this training, candidates must:
- Meet written assessment requirements for reading, math, inspection and measuring, process monitoring, and problem solving
- Meet the WIA eligibility requirements by being a dislocated worker or having a family income that does not exceed 200% of the Federal Poverty Level
- Pass a drug screening
- Complete an Individual Employment Plan (IEP) with a WIA Case Worker
Note: Participants will be responsible for own transportation, including gas money, to and from training for 8 weeks.
*You must have an appointment to take the written assessment. Below is a list of appointment times to take the written assessment. Choose a date/time from the list below and let Ron Berner know at either ron.berner@sinclair.edu, or 937-512-2310 of your appointment choice
