E-Journal Title Finder
Sinclair subscribes to over 49,000 electronic journals, but they may be found in any of over 140 different databases. Found the the Library's Articles page, the A-to-Z List lets you browse or search for a specific title, see which issues are online, and which database to use to find the journal. The List is also available for searching by broad subject categories.

CQ RESEARCHERCQ Researcher | (off campus) is now available online. It provides In-depth, unbiased coverage of health, social trends, criminal justice, international affairs, education, the environment, technology, and the economy. Great for papers on commonly reaserched social issues (e.g. abortion, gun control, capital punishement, etc).

NewsBank has been upgraded to Access World News including Access Business News. The older NewsBank NewsFile, Retrospective, Global, and Business News will be deactivated on January 30, 2007.

Access World News includes current and archived articles on issues, events, people, government, and more with the world's largest collection of full-text newspapers and other news sources. Includes local news, editorials, announcements, and other sections from over 2,000 sources.

FANTASY RECORDS ADDED TO NAXOS MUSIC LIBRARY JANUARY 1
The Fantasy Records Catalog became available to Sinclair Community College on January 1 through the Library’s Naxos Jazz database on our Music, Videos, and Images page. With over 23,000 tracks of music,1800 albums, 500 artists, the Fantasy Records collection spans the Genres of Jazz, Blues, R&B, Rock, Comedy, and even Beat Poetry of the 60’s.

Notable historic recordings include the likes of Count Basie, Ella Fitzgerald, Chet Baker, Dave Brubeck, Miles Davis, Thelonious Monk, Bill Evans, John Coltrane, and the Modern Jazz Quartet to name a few. Soul artists like The Blackbyrds, the Staple Singers, Issac Hayes, and Albert King are also featured. On the rock n’ roll side of things Fantasy features artists like Little Richard, Sam Cooke, the Soul Stirrers Lloyd Price and Creedance Clearwater Revival. Other materials featured are the recordings of Allen Ginsburg and Lawrence Ferlinghetti as well as the comic Lenny Bruce.

NEW PRINTING SYSTEMThe Library uses Sinclair's new print management system to help reduce printing waste. Please see http://www.sinclair.edu/technology/labs/goprint/index.cfm for more information.

FEATURED LISTSThe Library Catalog provides several Featured Lists of resources that patrons might not be aware of. Currently, we are featuring New Books, Audio books, and McNaughton books (these are similar to New Books).

NEW DATABASESDuring the month of July, the Library will be adding quite a few new databases. Some are entirely new, while others are substantial upgrades to existing databases or higher quality replacements of databases that we have subscribed to in the past. Each upgrade and replacement will be listed next to the database that is being replaced. Databases that are completely new will simply be added to our databases pages and our catalog.

RENOVATIONThe Library has returned to our renovated facility. We still have all of the books, periodicals, online resources, and various services that we had before the renovation. New features include: Starbucks, the Writing Center, The Tutoring and Learning Center, a quiet reading room, group study rooms, new classroom space, laptops that can be checked out, new furniture, and a new look.

NEW TUTORIAL VIDEOSThe Library has begun creating short tutorial videos for using Library resources. Currently, you can view videos for using the Library's website, renewing materials, requesting materials through OhioLINK, finding articles, accessing databases from off campus.

NEW "QUICK SEARCH" TOOLThe Sinclair Library and OhioLINK are pleased to provide a new "Quick Search" tool for finding articles. The goal of the new search tool is to provide maximum simplicity for patrons who just want to find a few articles with a keyword search. This tool pulls articles from several databases at the same time and presents them in a consolidated list.

COURTESY E-MAIL NOTIFICATIONSinclair students, faculty, and staff will now receive courtesy e-mail notification in advance of their items becoming overdue. Because notices are not sent via traditional mail services, patrons should verify that their correct e-mail address is listed in their library record. All e-mail notices will be sent to Sinclair e-mail addresses ONLY.

Not all items are renewable. For example, items that are overdue cannot be renewed. Courtesy e-mail notices will give patrons the opportunity to renew items before they are overdue. Use the My Library Account option on the Library’s website to verify your personal information and whether or not your item is able to be renewed. Patrons may also update their personal information and/or renew items at the Library circulation desk or by calling 512-3007.

NEW AUDIOBOOKS AND E-BOOKSThe Sinclair Library is pleased to take part in the Ohio eBook Project. This project combines the purchasing power of many libraries in the state to provide a wide range of audiobooks and e-books to all of our patrons. Sinclair students and staff can listen to or view books owned by Sinclair or any other library taking part in the project. The collection contains both academic and popular reading.

To listen to or read the books, visit the Ohio eBook Project website and select one of the links in the "Learn more about" box in the middle of the screen.

Audiobooks can be played directly from your computer, copied to a variety of supported mp3 players, or burned to a CD. E-books can be read from any computer or device that supports current versions of Adobe's Acrobat Reader or Mobipocket Reader.

Note that you are able to use any of the books in the collection from home. Due to network security requirements, access to the books from campus computers is very limited. Also note that due to the huge range of software and hardware combinations, the Library is only able to provide very limited support over the phone or in person.
