Don’t Ignore the Signs… Gain New Skills and Opportunities with the ASL Program

American Sign Language (ASL) is a language that uses signs made with the hands and other movements, including facial expressions and body posture, to communicate. The academic programs offered at Sinclair are designed to give you a basic understanding of the deaf culture, while also giving you practical experience in the field.

This program might be for you if:

  • You enjoy helping people learn and understand.
  • You are nterested in learning more about education, deaf culture and interpretation skills.
  • You would like to work in a service industry.

There is a wealth of opportunities available to you once you have completed the certificate or degree program in ASL. Not only are there positions available for full-time interpreters, but our programs can supplement any other degree program, especially those that involve communication.

In addition, there are many employers that understand how valuable this second language can be for their business. Even by taking a few sign language classes, you can have the opportunity to experience the deaf culture in Dayton, Ohio and provide a valuable service in our community and beyond.
