Physical therapy is a health care service which uses a variety of methods to help patients in need of care and rehabilitation. At Sinclair Community College, the physical therapist assistant program prepares you to provide physical therapy interventions to appropriately address the needs of patients as determined by a physical therapist.
Our commitment to providing the best learning and practical experiences shows through our graduates who take pride in being lifelong learners with skills reflective of clinical and administrative standards in the field.
Our program is composed of two components, academic materials and clinical affiliation. The academic focus of the program is conducted on campus and includes classroom and laboratory practice to gain skill competencies prior to working in a clinical setting. The clinical component gives you the opportunity to work a schedule simulating current employment standards. This experience is invaluable to your future as a physical therapist assistant—providing you with diverse learning experiences, hands-on experiences, and a professional mentor in the field.

Physical therapist assistants (PTA), under the supervision of physical therapists, assist patients in a wide variety of therapeutic and rehabilitative procedures. Many PTAs go on to work in hopitals, rehabitation centers, out-patient clinics, nursings homes and home health.

Even though there are no certificate programs currently being offered, there are still options if you would like to learn more about the physical therapy field or other life and health sciences studies. If you would just like to learn more about the program by taking a few classes or even find out what classes you could take to supplement another program or your current career path, academic advisors can assist you in finding the classes right for you.

Degree Programs
Associate of Applied Science - Physical Therapist Assistant
Physical therapist assistants, under the supervision of physical therapists, implement treatment programs for patients of all ages who suffer from disabilities and limitations due to illness, injury, or other causes. Admission to the program occurs with completion of program prerequisites listed below. The program begins a new class of students fall quarter each year. Upon completion of the program, a graduate is eligible to take the national examination for state licensure. Ohio Transfer Module
The Associate of Arts and the Associate of Science degree programs fulfill the requirements for the Ohio Transfer Module at other public colleges and universities. Students in applied associate degree programs may complete some individual transfer module courses within their degree program or continue beyond their program to complete the entire transfer module.
