It’s Time to Lead… Take the First Step with Management at Sinclair

The business management programs at Sinclair allow you to acquire the knowledge and skills to help prepare you for a management level position in business, industry and/or the public sector.

Our department offers certificate and degree programs in business administration, business management, human resources, marketing, and supply chain management. There are also a variety of business elective courses that you can take to better tailor any academic program to meet your own goals.

This program might be for you if:

  • You are interested in finding out more about group communication and leadership roles.
  • You are the decision-maker in many situations—at work, home, or even school.
  • You would like to learn the techniques and processes helpful in project and people management.
  • You enjoy leading others, while fostering innovative ideas and business camaraderie.

There are numbers of business opportunities in the world today. Our academic business programs allow for you to better understand business structures and the human communication involved in leadership roles—project management and people management. We work with you to help you take that next step in your current position or in your quest to obtain professional experience and understanding.

Business Management Certificate

With this program, students gain an understanding of business procedures to prepare them for a management position, or update the management skills of those currently employed in a managerial, administrative or office support role.

Entrepreneurship

This program prepares existing or potential entrepreneurs in wide variety of small business functions. In addition to traditional management courses, the following key areas are emphasized for entrepreneurs: entrepreneurial management, small business marketing, small business finance, and business plan development.

Short-term Technical Certificate

Human Resource Management

This short-term certificate provides the opportunity to develop and refine human resources skills. The curriculum covers laws and regulations related to employment, implications of decisions and their effect on employee motivation as well as the major functional areas of Human Resource Management. Also addresses human resources applications in benefits, training and development, recruitment and selection, compensation, performance planning, discipline and labor relations.

Degree Programs

Associate of Applied Science - Business Management

Management professionals work with people and other resources to accomplish an organization s goals. They assume a broad range of responsibilities and roles, from first-line supervision to mid-level coordination of organizational planning and operations with strategic planning executives. Managers excel in abstract logic and reasoning, computational expertise, communication, interpersonal activities and teamwork. This program emphasizes preparation for a wide variety of management related positions. It is designed to provide a balance in technical business education along with general education courses while providing a considerable choice of electives and alternatives. Opportunities for managers include supervision, office managers, management trainees, assistant managers and owners within a variety of settings, including small and medium-size businesses, corporations, industries, non-profit organization, and governmental agencies.

Associate of Applied Science - Business Management Entrepreneurship Concentration

This area of concentration within the Management program prepares existing or potential entrepreneurs in wide variety of small business functions. In addition to general education courses and traditional management courses, the following key areas are emphasized for entrepreneurs: opportunity analysis, steps to becoming an entrepreneur, organizational structure, marketing plan development, financial plan development, and the complete business plan development. Opportunities for entrepreneurs are not limited to just self-employment, as many small “entrepreneurial” firms hire like-minded employees that understand and thrive in the higher risk environment of small enterprise.

Associate of Applied Science - Business Management, Supply Chain Management Concentration

SCM specialists have opportunities for management positions at all levels in virtually every type of business, throughout small and medium-sized businesses, corporations, industries, non-profit organizations, and government agencies.

Associate of Science - Business Administration

The University Parallel or Transfer programs are designed for the student who wants to pursue a baccalaureate degree at a four-year institution in a business discipline. The purpose for the transfer degree program is to provide the basic core of business and general education requirements for the first two years of a four-year program. The primary objective of these programs is to provide for transfer to a four-year institution rather than preparation for a job.

Articulation & Transfer Agreements

Sinclair works directly with many four-year schools in Ohio and beyond to ensure the college credit you earn will transfer easily to those schools. By developing articulation agreements, formal agreements between colleges detailing the recognition of college credit between the schools, you will know you are meeting the requirements needed at the four-year school of your choice. Sinclair Community College has worked to develop program-specific agreements to assist you in a more seamless process when transferring from a specific Sinclair degree program to a bachelor’s degree program in the same area of study.

Ohio Transfer Module

The Associate of Arts and the Associate of Science degree programs fulfill the requirements for the Ohio Transfer Module at other public colleges and universities. Students in applied associate degree programs may complete some individual transfer module courses within their degree program or continue beyond their program to complete the entire transfer module.

Upon completion of the Ohio Transfer Module, students will be able to enter most Ohio four-year colleges and universities as a junior with your general education requirements completed. Find out more about the Ohio Transfer Module…
