ABOUT SINCLAIR

Borkowski Primitive Arts Collection

Borkowski

The Mary Borkowski Collection is devoted to documenting the work and creative processes of Mary Borkowski, a nationally renowned folk artist whose “thread paintings” depict often dreamlike scenes which include elements of social commentary.  The collection includes photographs of all of Mrs. Borkowski’s work; her notes and commentary on each piece; catalogs, newsclippings, and correspondence; publications and encyclopedias she appears in; and her collection of craft books and magazines.

Mrs. Borkowski’s work is in the collections of the Museum of American Folk Art in New York City, the Smithsonian Institution, the Presidential Libraries of Bill Clinton and Richard Nixon, the Dayton Art Institute, and Sinclair Community College.

This collection would be of particular interest to students of the Primitive or Americana Arts.

For more information about the Borkowski Collection, please email Julie Fairchild or call (937) 512-2319.
