Outcomes

  • Demonstrate the clinical features and correct procedures of a properly placed esthetic resin restoration, including: surface texture, anatomical form, marginal integrity, occlusal contacts, proximal contours, proximal contact and patient comfort.
  • Demonstrate the appropriate operator/patient positions, instrument grasps, finger rests and instrument adaptation and activation necessary to provide maximum control, efficiency, while minimizing strain and fatigue during restorative procedures.
  • Exhibit the correct armamentarium and demonstrate the procedure for placement and removal of various intraoral isolation methods, including cotton roll isolation and rubber dam placement and removal.
  • Identify and apply appropriate infection control standards in the preparation, delivery, disposal and sterilization of restorative dentistry.
  • Describe and demonstrate the correct procedures for mixing and/or manipulating traditional bases, liners and dental cements.
  • Demonstrate the clinical features and correct procedures of a properly placed amalgam restoration, including: surface texture, anatomical form, marginal integrity, occlusal contacts, proximal contours, proximal contact and patient comfort.
  • Demonstrate the concepts of special considerations, during finishing and polishing, armamentarium, and the sequence for recontouring, finishing and polishing amalgam restorations.
