Pride Splits on Day One of Regionals

At Regionals, Sinclair Drops Game One, Bounces Back for Game Two

Game 1

Muskegon got on the board in the first with a three run homerun and never trailed the rest of the game. After that pitch, Austin Pressly cruised through the next five innings without allowing a run. The Sinclair offense was in a funk all day and struggled against Muskegon's left handed ace. Prior to the 7th, the offense had two hits and Cale Marker's solo shot in the 3rd, was the only run scored. Muskegon scored one in the top of the 7th on a two out hit and extended their lead to 4-1. Sinclair made things interesting though in the bottom half, scoring twice, and leaving the tying run on at 3rd and the go ahead run at 1st. In the end, three hits wasn't enough to win game one.

Final Score: Muskegon 4 Sinclair 3

Offensive Leaders: Cale Marker 1-3 HR, Chas Harper 1-3, Brandon Napier 1-2 BB.

Game 2

Facing elimination, the Pride called on Jeremiah Kerns in game two to keep the dream alive. Kerns answered and threw a complete game shutout, only allowing three hits and striking out ten. The bats were cold again for the Pride who only scored one run on a Byron Johann base hit to right in the 2nd.

Final Score: Sinclair 1 Jackson 0

Offensive Leaders: Steve Buglione 1-3, Marcus Heath 1-3, Kyle Vander Ark 1-3 2B, Byron Johann 1-2 RBI. Chas Harper 1-2.

Sinclair will play the loser of Cuyahoga & Kellogg tomorrow at 12:30.
