After watching the top seed Owens fall in the loser’s bracket final, the Pride knew that they had a battle on their hands with Cuyahoga for the Conference Title. Coming into the weekend the Challengers from Tri-C didn't have much a record to speak of but really put it together this weekend and played well. Tri-C got on the board right away scoring in the top of the 1st off Pride starter Jake Robinson. That lead wouldn't last long though as the Pride bounced right back and scored five in the bottom half. The inning was highlighted by a Taylor Hoisington doubled that scored two. Robinson battled through three innings but just didn't have his best stuff. After a leadoff triple in the 4th, Robinson was lifted for Zach Botjer. Botjer gave up a sacrifice fly to cut the Pride lead to 6-4 but it stopped there. The Pride offense tacked on three more runs and Botjer shut the door for the win and the Conference Championship. Botjer went four strong innings allowing only three hits and struck out five. This is the 10th OCCAC Conference Championship in Sinclair Baseball History. Final score: Sinclair 9 Cuyahoga 5. Top Offense Performers: Taylor Hoisington 2-3 2RS 2B 3RBI's, Ricky Masson 1-2 2RBI's, Jacob Robinson 2-3 2RS BB 2B, Blaine Reese 1-2 SAC 2RBI's.
With the Conference Title, the Pride will get an automatic bid to the NJCAA Region 12 Tournament in Battle Creek, Michigan. The Tournament begins May 8th and the brackets should be out early next week. The winner of the Regional goes to the World Series in Enid, Oklahoma.
