Every year, Ohio Magazine recognizes teachers for their outstanding achievements in education. Teacher’s are nominated by peers and selected based on four categories:

· Teaching excellence
· Participation in professional development activities
· Interest in students outside the classroom/laboratory
· Exhibit distinction as a member of the academic community

Both Bob Chaney and Beth Zickefoose were recognized with 2010 Excellence in Education awards from the magazine.

Bob teaches mathematics at the college and is an exciting and motivating lecturer, according to his nominator. He has a thorough understanding of mathematics and enjoys sharing knowledge with students. He has developed lab experiments integrating the TI calculator and a small robot to teach Tech Math with a hands-on approach for better understanding and retention of math concepts.

Beth has taught at Sinclair for more than 27 years and is currently teaching in the Life & Health Sciences division. Beth’s nominator called her a highly competent and caring faculty member who prepares students to become skilled respiratory therapists. An excellent role model, Beth consistently demonstrated professionalism within and outside the classroom and clinical settings. She is also very active in volunteer work.
