Sinclair Community College Saves over $1 Million a Year in Cleaning Costs
Dayton, OH – Sinclair Community College today announced the awarding of a new custodial contract that will promptly save the college over $1 million a year in cleaning costs while providing excellent service levels.

In a new contract that consolidates the college’s cleaning and janitorial services needs, GCA Services, Inc. will provide custodial services for all of Sinclair’s facilities, including the Dayton campus, the Courseview Campus Center in Mason, and Learning Centers in Englewood, Huber Heights and Eaton.

“We are heeding the call of Governor Strickland to be ever more efficient and effective with public funds,” explained Robert “Woody” Woodruff, director of facilities. “Not only will GCA provide exceptional services at a significantly lower cost, they will do so with modern, environmentally sound methods.”

“This is an extension of Sinclair’s continuing work to build an ever-more effective college, that also lives within its financial means,” according to Sinclair Chief Financial Officer Jeff Boudouris.

In other cost saving measures, Sinclair has also recently announced voluntary pay freezes for all senior-level administrators, as part of adopting a very austere operating budget

With an increase of 14 percent in enrollment last year and an expected increase of 20-25 percent for fall, Sinclair continues to provide the highest-quality community college education possible, in an environment of continuing real-dollar decline in state funding per student.

GCA Services, Inc. headquartered in Euclid, Ohio, was selected for its national experience, including with many other large community colleges, as well as for its quality services. In addition, GCA will use green products and processes in accord with Sinclair’s environmental priorities.

Given its knowledge of Sinclair’s facilities, L&M, Inc. the college’s current custodial contractor, will provide transitional consulting to Sinclair. GCA will seek to hire current, experienced L & M employees. GCA offers a complete compensation and benefits package.

The contract was awarded through a closed bid process under the advice and assistance of HLH, Inc, a national, minority-owned custodial contracting specialist based near Columbus, Ohio.
