High School Students to "Showcase" Capstone Projects at Sinclair

Dayton, OH- Sinclair Community College will host the 13th Annual Miami Valley Tech Prep "Showcase" on Tuesday, April 28, 2009. This year's "Showcase" will feature 350 Miami Valley area high school tech prep students making up 95 teams exhibiting capstone projects in competition before business and industry judges.

WHO: 350 secondary students from 16 high schools and career centers

WHAT: Tech Prep Showcase and Judging

WHEN: Judging 9:30 a.m. through 12 noon, Ribbon Presentation -1:00 pm –Smith Auditorium

WHERE: Great Hall, Charity Auditorium, first floor, Sinclair Center Building 12, Third & Perry streets.

WHY: The showcase projects reflect the academic and technical skills needed to succeed in the technology-based careers in today's complex job market. The Miami Valley Tech Prep Consortium works with 58 high schools, covering a seven county area, to create seamless career-technical education programs that begin in high school and continue through an associate degree in college and beyond. Tech Prep programs stress mathematics, science, communication and technology while emphasizing teamwork, hands-on learning, work site experiences, critical thinking and problem solving. Parents, guests and interested parties are invited to attend and observe the projects from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Parking is available under Building 12 with parking passes available at the registration table. Winning teams will receive trophies at a special awards luncheon Thursday, May 7 at 11:30 am. in the Great Hall of Sinclair Community College.
