Pride Starter Jacob Robinson didn't have his best stuff on the mound today. Robinson could not get out of the 3rd inning without help from Pride reliever Chuck Calhoun. Robinson was plagued by the long ball as Vincennes hit four homeruns in the first three innings. Down 7-2, the Pride bats battled back and were left trailing 8-5 heading into the bottom of the 7th. After recording an out, Zach Stewart & Justin Marrero both singled. Corey Throckmorton walked setting up bases loaded for Robinson. Robinson hit what appeared to be a game ending double play ball to short but a throwing error plated two for the Pride. Then freshmen shortstop Brandon Napier hit a game winning ground rule double down the right field line.
Final Score: #9 Sinclair 9 Vincennes 8
Offensive Leaders: Zach Stewart 2-4 3RS HR (6), Justin Marrero 2-3 2RS HR (9) 2 RBI's, Corey Throckmorton 1-2 2RS BB HR (4) 2 RBI's, Jacob Robinson 3-4, Tom McCowan 2-3.
Michael Dunfee was on the bump for the Pride in the second game and was outstanding. After giving up a long ball to Vincennes slugger Jared Broughton (His 3rd of the day) in the 1st, Dunfee cruised through Blazer hitters only allowing two hits. "Mike threw the ball today like we know he can," said Dintaman. "He's a very talented Freshmen who will continue to get better and better." Dunfee would go six strong innings before turning the ball over to Matt Addis in the 7th. After manufacturing a run in the 2nd to tie the game at 1, the Pride used the long ball once again to take the lead. Corey Throckmorton hit his second homerun of the day in the 4th and then Justin Marrero did the same with a three-run homerun in the 5th.
Final Score: #9 Sinclair 5 Vincennes 2
Offensive Leaders: Justin Marrero 1-3 HR (10) 3RBI's, Corey Throckmorton 2-3 2B HR (5).
With the win the Pride improve to 28-5 and will travel to Miami-Hamilton tomorrow for a one-nine inning contest. Brad Yinger will be making his first start of the season on the mound. Game time is set for 6pm.
