Tartans Top Norse 11-9

In the earliest start time of the year (9:38am), Sinclair took on NKU's JV team at Marge Schott Stadium on the campus of the University of Cincinnati. The Pride got on the board in the 1st when Brandon Napier scored on a two out double from Marcus Heath. The offense added two more runs when Chayse Hood reached on a error in the 3rd scoring two. Jeremiah Kerns was cruising through the game until the top of the 4th. After giving up a leadoff double, the next batter hit a ball in the rightcenter gap that fell between both outfielders, giving the Norse runners on the 2nd and 3rd. Kerns settled back in and threw a groundball to Napier that held the runner at 3rd. With one out, a flyball to centerfield looked like it would be caught, but was lost in the sun and the batter ended up on 3rd. Then a base hit to right tied the game at three. Kerns pitched a scoreless 5th and the offense put him inline for the win with three runs in the bottom half from a Byron Johann RBI single and Chas Harper homerun to right. Christian McElroy relieved Kerns and didn't allow a run until the 7th when the lead was cut to 6-4. In the bottom half, Sinclair took advantage of a few defensive miscues and scored four runs to increase their lead. The Norse bats battled back in the top of the 9th and closer Matt Addis entered the game with bases loaded and one out. After giving up a double, Addis threw two groundball outs to David Moss at 3rd to end the game.

Final Score: Sinclair 11 NKU JV 9

WP: Jeremiah Kerns 2-0 SV: Matt Addis (3)

Offensive Leaders: Marcus Heath 3-4 3RS 2B RBI, Byron Johann 3-5 2RS 2B RBI, Chas Harper 1-3 2RS HR 3 RBI's.

With the win Sinclair improves to 8-0 on the season right before exam week. After a few days off, the Pride will host Miami-Middletown on Thursday and regional opponent Kellogg on Friday Saturday.
