Sinclair Volleyball Gears up for the Pink Game

The first week of October, Sinclair Community College hosted Pink@Sinclair in honor of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Sinclair Athletics, Marketing Services, the Sinclair Bookstore and Sinclair’s Student Leadership Association worked together to deliver a variety of pink events promoting breast cancer awareness on campus.

Pink@Sinclair began October 2nd when Sinclair Athletics hosted their annual Think Pink volleyball game. The Tartan Pride beat Lakeland Community College 3-2 in OCCAC play.

Breast cancer awareness continued on October 6th when the entire Sinclair family wore pink. To support the cause, faculty and staff decorated their offices and students from the Dayton campus, Huber Heights, Englewood and Preble County Learning Centers and the Courseview campus center all wore pink.

The Sinclair Bookstore offered 30% off pink products and hosted a pink fashion show while the Student Leadership Association sold pink ribbons and collected money to go towards finding a cure for breast cancer. In the afternoon, the Student Leadership Association hosted a pink balloon release, in which balloons were released to honor breast cancer survivors.

Sinclair’s pink day ended with a Pink Out volleyball game, when the Tartan Pride took on Miami-University Middletown. The Pride began the evening taking the first game in dramatic fashion 25-23, winning the last three straight points for a 1-0 lead. The Tartan Pride dropped Game Two 25-17, but stormed back to capture Games 3 and 4; 25-19 and 25-17.
