After ten hours of shoveling snow off the field Thursday & Friday, the Pride hosted Ancilla College & Genesee CC in the Coach Jim Harrison Memorial Tournament.
In game one, Pride starter Justin Schultheiss got the ball and cruised through five scoreless innings striking out eight. Chris Bruckman would pitch a scoreless six and thats all it would take as the offense erupted for ten runs. The scoring started in the second when Steve Buglione hit a one out double that scored Bryon Johann from 1st base. In the 3rd, Clay Ragland led off with a single and Tom McCowan followed with a bunt hit. Justin Marrero singled in Ragland with a base hit of his own and Zach Stewart would knock in two with a triple. Buglione doubled in two more runs in the 5th and the game ended in the 6th on a 3-Run Homerun from Justin Marrero.
Final Score: Sinclair 10 Ancilla 0
Schultheiss gets his first win of the year after a no-decesion down in Georgia.
Offensive Leaders: Clay Ragland 2-3 2RS BB, Justin Marrero 2-3 BB HR 4 RBI's, Corey Throckmorton 2-3 RBI, Steve Buglione 3-3 2 2B 3 RBI's.
Zach Botjer started game two and had another very strong pitching performance. Botjer threw four scoreless heading into the 5th inning. In the 5th, Genesee led off with a single and then took advantage of a misplayed ball in the outfield. A blooper into leftfield turned into a double that rolled all the way to the wall after the ball went past a diving Zach Stewart. Genesee got another base hit off Botjer to extend their lead to 2-0. The Pride offense struggled all night leaving eight runners on base in the first four innings. In the bottom of the 5th with two outs, Corey Throckmorton hit a flyball to center that was dropped. Since he was running hard out of the box Throckmorton was able to get to second base. Sinclair capitalized with a Steve Buglione RBI single. Chuck Calhoun relived Botjer in the 6th and threw two great scorless innings which set the stage for the bottom of the 7th. Trailing 2-1 Jake Robinson drew a walk to start the inning. Robinson would get to second on a passed ball but would not move until two outs. Freshmen shortstop Brandon Napier came through in the clutch with a two out single that tied the game. On the throw to home Napier advanced to second and then take 3rd on the wild throw to 2nd. Napier would stay stranded on 3rd and the game would go into extra innings. Matt Addis threw a perfect 8th for Sinclair but left the game in the 9th with a muscle spasm in his wrist. Jordan Russell gave up a leadoff double and things fell apart as he gave up six earned runs.
Final Score: Genesee 3 Sinclair 2 (In 9 Innings)
Offensive Leaders: Steve Buglione 1-3 RBI, Brandon Napier 2-4 RBI
