Sinclair (19-6/6-3) Men’s Basketball upend Columbus State 70-59

Dayton, OH – In a battle of two of the three teams tied for first place in the OCCAC, Sinclair held on to knock off nationally ranked (#9) Columbus State at home Saturday afternoon.

Sinclair took early control of the game and entered halftime up 7 (31-24) on solid shooting (54%) and strong defense holding Columbus to 32% from the field.

Midway through the second half, the Pride was able to push the lead up to as many as 18 several times before Columbus State made one last ditched effort at a comeback.  Coming down the stretch, Sinclair made a couple of key Free Throws to ice the win and remain in a two way tie for first place with Cincinnati State.

Once again, Darrien Wilkins (6-5/Cincinnati Princeton H.S.) lead the Pride with his 11th double-double - 20 points and 10 rebounds.  Blake Davenport (6-1/Lebanon H.S.) came off the bench with 18 points going 3 for 4 from the 3 point line and 9 for 11 from the Free Throw line.

The Tartan Pride improved their overall record to 19-6 and 6-3 in the OCCAC. Sinclair will return action Wednesday as they travel to Cincinnati State for a 7:30 tip.
