Area Colleges Team Up to Host Women’s Rights Activist

DAYTON, OH (9/17/2010) – The University of Dayton, Sinclair Community College, and Wittenberg University are collaborating to host Rus Funk, a national spokesperson working to end men’s violence, on September 22 and 23, 2010.

Funk has been fighting for this cause since 1983. He has counseled victims of sexual and domestic assault and male batterers. He also sits on the board of many organizations for social change and social justice, including the DC Coalition Against Domestic Violence, the National Training Center on Domestic and Sexual Violence, and the National Association of Social Workers Task Force on Violence Against Women.

Funk has written Stopping Rape: A Challenge for Men, along with numerous articles, chapters, and training manuals. He also co-wrote the Violence Against Women Act.

The three colleges and universities will host several events:
