Sinclair Music Majors Perform at Convention

Sinclair Music Majors

Congratulations to six Sinclair Community College vocal music majors who had the honor of singing in the Mixed Collegiate Chamber Honor Choir and the Women's Honor Choir along with fellow students from Ohio, Michigan, Indiana and Illinois at the Central Division American Choral Directors Association convention in Ft. Wayne, Indiana on Friday, March 9, 2012.

Angela Wilson, Lora Welch, Steven Stillwell and Matthew Brown sang in the 32-voice Mixed Collegiate Chamber Honor Choir under the direction of Dr. Edward Maclary from the University of Maryland. Lora Welch had the distinction of being the sole featured soloist at the Honor Choir performance. Jennifer Smith and Hannah Gopperton sang in the 50-voice Women’s Honor Choir under the direction of Dr. Hilary Apfelstadt from the University of Toronto.

Both ensembles rehearsed about 12 hours between Wednesday and Friday, culminating in the two concerts on Friday, March 9, 2012 at the Cathedral of Immaculate Conception in Ft. Wayne, Indiana before the many ACDA members in attendance. Prior to going to the convention, the students learned their music with the assistance of Nolan Long, Associate Professor of Music at Sinclair Community College.
