Theatre Performance (THEP.S.AA)

61.0-62.0 Credit Hours

This degree is designed as a university-parallel program for students to transfer to four-year institutions. This comprehensive and intense degree is focused on student development and performance training. Classroom theory is applied in a multiple-performance theatre season. Students must pass all THE courses with a grade of C or better. As part of this degree program, students must complete the requirements of the Ohio Transfer Module in order to graduate.

In English Composition I students learn reflective, analytical and argumentative writing strategies, incorporating sources and personal experience. Students will negotiate between public and private rhetorical situations and purposes to achieve academic literacy. They will write multiple drafts using a recursive writing process as they work toward fluency in style and mechanics.

A study of techniques for building and handling theatrical scenery. Covers tools, materials and hardware used, along with standard safety practices and the artistic and practical considerations of scenery construction.

Focus on discovering creative, in-depth techniques of script analysis and realizing different methods for researching the script. Techniques can be applied to understanding the script as an actor, director, designer, dramaturg or playwright. One classroom, four lab hours per week.

Perform scenes from several eras in theatre history: Greek, Restoration, Shakespeare and post-modernist theatre. Study and perform modern audition techniques (cover letters, headshots, etc.). Two classroom, two lab hours per week.
