Dr. Mileta Tomovic is the W.C. Furnas Professor of Enterprise Excellence, in the Department of Mechanical Engineering Technology at Purdue University.

His research interests are in the area of system dynamics and controls, manufacturing processes, design optimization, collaborative design, product lifecycle management, modeling of rapid prototyping and fast free form fabrication methods, and web-based multi-user platform development for industrial tooling customer-supplier resource management.

As an expert in metalcasting design optimization, Tomovic is recognized internationally as a leader in mechanical engineering technology education. He is one of 30 Foundry Education Foundation Key professors in the United States.

Tomovic has published one textbook on materials and manufacturing processes, has written more than 50 publications, and has four patents. He has assisted more than 60 Indiana companies through the Technical Assistance Program in problems related to automation, manufacturing, and product and process design.

Dr. Tomovic earned his doctorate in mechanical engineering from the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor in 1991. He received his master's degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1981, and his bachelor's degree from the University of Belgrade, Yugoslavia in 1979.
