Keynote Speaker: Linda Brown Thompson and Cheryl Brown Henderson. Two of the daughters of the Rev. Oliver L. Brown who in the fall of 1951 along with 12 other families, led by attorneys for the NAACP, filed suit on behalf of their children against the local Board of Education. This led to a landmark decision in the Supreme Courts.

This reception honored the recipients of the African American Unsung Hero Award. Several Africa American faculty, staff, and students were honored for their outstanding and exceptional contributions to the College which have gone unnoticed or unrewarded.

Kuumba Celebration
Sinclair African-American Studies program and student cultural clubs hosted a celebration of African-American contributions to popular culture and creativity through the use of music, fashion, poetry, visual arts and dance.
