The Young Scholars Program

Click here to Visit the Young Scholars website

The purpose of the Young Scholars Program (YSP) is to prepare first generation minority students to be academically ready to pursue higher education. If after completing the five years (grades 8 through 12) in the YSP the student chooses to attend Sinclair, his/her tuition and books will be completely funded. Currently in its ninth year, students in the YSP participate in ten 2-hour Saturday sessions (March through May). The focus is on setting realistic career goals and finding the means to achieve those goals through workshops and seminars. A sampling of topics include: creative thinking, managing time, setting priorities, developing family support, building communication skill, choosing careers, information technology, and becoming a master student. The Sinclair Foundation, the Admissions Office, and a private donor fund the program.

*Nine students from Stivers School for the Arts were recruited and enrolled during the 1998 recruitment campaign. Including these students increases the 1997 cohort by nine students and decreases the 1998 cohort by nine students. The nine students will join the 1997 cohort during the Spring of 1998.
